A service animal is defined as a dog that’s individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.
Forms and Advance Notice
- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) form is required for everyone traveling with a service dog
- The Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation Sanitation Form is required for flights scheduled to take 8 hours or more
Traveling with Service Animals
- Service animals are accepted in cabin free of charge for qualified individuals with a disability
- Qualified individuals with a disability are permitted to travel with a maximum of only two service dogs
- Dogs from high-risk rabies locations temporarily barred from entering the U.S. (For more information, please visit the link below in the Airline Contact section)
- Dogs vaccinated in the United States by a US-licensed veterinarian may re-enter the United States from a high-risk country without a CDC Dog Import Permit. (For more information, please visit the link below in the Airline Contact section)
Travel Requirements
- Animals under 4 months of age may not travel as a service animal
- If you’re traveling with a service dog, the dog should sit in the floor space in front of your assigned seat and cannot extend into the aisles or the foot space of adjacent travelers
Animal Behavior
- Animals must be trained to behave properly in public and will not be permitted in the cabin if they display any disruptive behavior such as growling, biting, jumping, etc.
- Animals may not be able to fly if all requirements are not met
